California Mentor is a community-based program that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our Host Home model. We partner with caring individuals and families who open their homes to adults seeking a safe, supportive, and family-style living environment. In this model, individuals live in private homes within their own neighborhoods while receiving individualized, 24-hour support tailored to their unique needs, goals, and abilities.

Host Home Providers play a vital role in helping adults build independence and lead fulfilling lives. Support includes assistance with daily living activities, skill development, transportation, and meaningful community involvement. From building friendships and participating in local activities to developing life skills that promote long-term independence, the Host Home model emphasizes dignity, choice, and inclusion.

California Mentor’s experienced team works closely with Host Home Providers, offering comprehensive training, ongoing guidance, and hands-on support every step of the way. Providers are independent contractors, not employees, allowing for flexibility and autonomy while remaining fully supported by our organization.
