A gym-crazy young attorney, living in London, life was sweet. Then my back 'went out'. For a year I hobbled to physicians, chiropractors and others. Despite repeated manipulation, exercises and back injections, the pain from my spinal scoliosis made life almost unbearable.
Introduced to the Alexander Technique, in desperation I started sessions 3 times a week. Amazingly, after 4 weeks life was painless, upright and mobile again. For the next decade I enjoyed periodic sessions until I began a 1600-hour, 3 year Alexander Technique instructor's training course.
The Alexander Technique improves health, reduces stress and enhances performance by changing our postural habits. By reorganizing your head-neck-back-pelvis and limbs, I release unhelpful muscle holding as well as unnecessary compression on joints. I do this gently and safely while you are standing, sitting and lying on a comfy table. After several sessions you begin to learn yourself how to release unnecessary holding in the muscles and joints and to allow a lengthening and widening. At about a dozen sessions is when many people start to feel a sustainable difference.
