Health and Aging Medical Education Series

Rotarians have been very supportive in promoting educational health conferences for the community. The Rotary Club of Belmont and Redwood Shores is focusing on providing a Health and Aging Awareness Education Series. Last year, we held a conference to highlight Tips for Caring for the Elderly. A scientific brief recently released by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that, in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%. In 2021, 48,183 Americans died by suicide, an average of 132 suicides day, and there were an estimated 1.7 million suicide attempts. In California, there were 4,148 deaths by suicide that year. With the knowledge that suicide and mental health issues are rising, our 2024 conference will focus on mental health in the intergenerational community. The need is great to make suicide prevention a priority by promoting mental health. Please become an advocate and join us as a Sponsor of our upcoming event.

We have several distinguished speakers who will deliver vital information surrounding the importance of maintaining the mental health of our community members. This conference is called “The Human Brain: A Holistic Approach to Brain Health.” This event will be held on Friday, May 10th at the Grand Bay Hotel SF in Redwood City. We are expecting from 250 – 500 attendees, including students, nurses, social workers, community leaders, and the public in general.
