Eli Poblitz has worked with various school to career programs supporting Special Education since 2002. He entered into education after working in the corporate and the non-profit sectors.
Eli was hired at San Mateo Union High School District in 2011 as a Vocational Specialist to support the short and long term employment goals for students who are 16 years and older. Eli is currently managing a cooperative contract with the California Department of Rehabilitation which focuses on workplace readiness skills, job exploration, and work-based learning called the Transition Partnership Program.
He resides in Pacifica with his wife and two sons. On weekends or vacations you will find Eli camping, snowboarding, or going to the beach with his family and three dogs.
Eli Poblitz will share an overview about the various funding streams available to pay subsidized wages for exploratory work-experience for high school students.
A short video will be shown that highlights work-based learning.
Three options will be explored as a model for businesses to collaborate with San Mateo Union High School District and work-based learning.
A new pilot Summer Employment Academy will be discussed, which is an opportunity for recently graduated students to gain up to 200 hours of subsidized work experience.
